Echo is haywire

I'm a pretty fast typist I guess. This board used to keep up with me just fine but is now about a word or two behind. Is it me? Or is the new system slower.

That was one of the side effects of the upgrade to the 2.0 site, the old site now has a severe keystroke latency. This was explained in the invitation to the select few who get to use the new site. You must be in the group that got excluded.

Re: Echo is haywire

Just kidding.

As for the haywire echo, you're showing your age. Mainframe terminals from the Pleistocene Era used echo. Websites *usually* do not. When you're typing into a text box i.e., while posting a message, there's usually no communication with the website. (Google is now an exception, as it updates the search results after each keystroke.) On this site, there's no communication until you click submit.

When you're typing faster than your computer can display it, then your computer is usually busy doing something like intensive disk access. It can also be a symptom of having a virus, needing to defragment your computer, having too many programs running at once, etc.

Ok I had about 15 windows open. I just closed most of them and it's faster but I think there is still a little lag. I'll have to figure out how to defrag an Apple.

Pull the pin on Mr. Grenade. Place next to the Apple. Retreat.

Oh wait, that's how to frag an Apple. . . . Probably wouldn't hurt to do that first anyway.
