EDO 2705 TC/STC help needed.

I have a 62 Cessna 180E model and have purchased a set of EDO 2705 amphibian floats thinking they were made for the C180. The TC includes EDO 2700 but not the 2705 which I thought was a minor update to the 2700. The only diff I can see is that the 2700 is electric where the 2705 is hydralic just like the 2790. Teh 2870/2700/2705 all share the same hull. So crazy part is that the 2705 does have STC to be installed on C180, A,B,C,D (Kenmore), and C185 all models (Cruse Aviation). So No STC for C180E-H ?? WTH. The interesting part is that the EDO installation documents the 2705 diagrams to be used on "C180C and UP". Why would they say say 180C and UP but the STC only cover 180C/D and not 180E-H? But all C185 are included in a separate STC. This makes no sense.

Question is how do I get these installed on my C180? Do I ask Kenmore for a one time approval? Do I try to get a field approval to get it done. I hear that field approvals are next to impossible these days.
It's times like this that I hate certified airplane paper trail nightmares. Anyone have a 337 for a C180E-H for the 2705 that they can share?
Thx for the help.

Definitely call Kenmore and ask for their opinion and advise. There may be more to the story than is published on the internet.

Call Kenmore, ask to speak to Erik Johanson. JJ Frey may also have some ideas, PM me if you need to contact him.

Also call the FSDO see what they will accept as "acceptable" or "approved" data for a 337 to do the install. If your IA has a contact at the FSDO it might be good for him to make the call.

Agreed.

Kenmore or an IA who has previously approved data with 180E installation is where I would first look. JJ Frey is a plethora on EDO, great guy to talk with regardless. I have his number somewhere.

Re: EDO 2705 TC/STC help needed.

Erik at Kenmore didn't have any ideas other than getting a field approval done. I would have thought he would have a FAA contact that would be used to doing this sort of thing. No luck so far.
