Engine stoppage: Priceless unintelligible dialog

It's in italian, but it really doesn't matter what they're saying.

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”

So what do I do with all this computer gibberish when it is not a link so I can share in all these messages you fellows publish?

I wish they showed the airspeed indicator. I was kinda curious to know what kind of indicated it took to get the prop windmilling again so it would start.
Boy they sure pointed to nose at the ground.
I wonder why they didn't just use the starter instead of sacrificing that altitude.

Airspeed depends on engine condition, prop pitch etc. I have flown in an old 172 that the compression was so low that it wouldn't stop until deep in a stall and at 80 mph it was windmilling again.
Why they didn't use the starter? Same reason I haven't, they were just screwing around.

And it's kinda nice to know just how much less drag there is with the prop stopped as opposed to windmilling. Something to think about if you're trying to stretch things out before reaching the ground with a dead engine. Ditto pulling the blue knob all the way back with a C/S prop.

And like A64 says... It's fun.

I remember when I lost the engine on a Champ I nursed it almost back to the field, then it quit running and of course I was way to short.

About that time the engine decided to lock up and to the field we went, landed and coasted almost to parking.
