Evergreen Aviation Museum - MMV

Received for Christmas a set of passes to the Evergreen Aviation Museum and some avgas $ from the girlfriend. We were planning on flying to MMV Friday or next week from Kelso, depending on the weather.

Has anyone here visited the museum recently? How much time did it take to see the whole thing? And most importantly is the food at their cafe good?

Thanks,

Matt

Hi Matt the food in the aerospace museum side is really good. The food in the airplane side is just ok. They have wine tasting if that is your thing. Time, you can do it in 3 hours with lunch or spend all day. It depends how in depth you get. There is IMax movies and the Spruce Goose behind the ropes tour. I am sure you will love the place.

Cheers...Rob

I took my kids this summer on our vacation.....Their limit was about 3 hrs and we only made the aviation side. I could have spent all day. Look forward to getting up there again once the space shuttle is moved in. Not sure when that is supposed to happen though.

Sounds like I will have to make a day of it when the weather cooperates. Are the space side and aviation sides two different museums? Their website wasn't real clear. Thanks everyone for the info

Yup. Two separate buildings. You can pay for one or both, sounds like you are covered with your passes though.

My Daughter and Son in law just got back, I think she said its 25 bucks for the SG tour and another 25 if you want your picture taken in the pilots seat.
But they said it was worth the $ and had a great time.

If you run out of stuff to see there, it's only 36 miles to Tillamook and the air museum there.

I went to the museum this fall like everyone before said plan on spending a full day to do the IMAX theater and everything I spend the $20 to get my picture taken in the cockpit of the Spruce goose well worth it because I could take five people with me to be in the picture quite a bargain also I think if you spend $50 above the price of admission to the museum they will give you a tour of the entire aircraft definitely on my list of things to do when I go back.

Re: Evergreen Aviation Museum - MMV

I have a membership...

Go there at least once a year, my kids love the kid area.
IMHO, the best aviation museum in the state.
They are expanding to include a hotel and indoor water park with a 747 mounted on top of the building. There are architect models of the expansion in the airplane museum.
There are several engines on display at the left front of the Goose. The old 0-235 Lycoming came from our shop via the Southern Oregon Historical Society. Next time I go up I plan on spending the money to take the full tour of the Goose.

Looking at the weather forecast I am going to postpone my trip until next week some time.

Brian: A membership gets you free addmission throughout the year correct? Any discounts at other WA/OR air museums?

fern_hopper,

My membership is actually to Science Works Museum in Ashland Or. It is good for Evergreen and OMSI plus there is a list of about 200 other museums in the country that accept it.
