Re: Favorite aviation magazine(s)?

In my lust to do what I want and make money or at least break even in aviation I have dreamed of starting my own magazine. One like shown above "Backcountry Pilot" I don't know if that one was reall or not but we need one. With more and more people buying bigger tires and modifying there airplanes for back country flying I think it could catch on. Heck I routinely see people doing touch and goes at towered airports with bushwheeled supercubs in the middle of the midwest so I know people out here would be interested in it. Besides articles on places to fly you could feature peoples airplanes not normally associated with back country flying and are used for such to open the eyes of people who don't have supercubs or cessna 180's. That would help get more involved and draw in more readers.

Ben, I've seen you magnificent bird grace the pages of "Kitplanes". Well done!

Thanks for the compliment.... I let my subscription to Kitplanes expire a few months back and just renewed the other day.... While going through the online digital edition of the mag I saw a pic of it in the "insuring" planes article.. The gist of the comment under the pic was.... "not only will underwriters say no to auto engine powered experimentals they will say HELL no...<G>  #-o

I like this idea. Combining my favorite topics, outdoors, airplanes/aviation, photography. When I get up to flying, can't wait to contribute.

It was just a prototype from a time when I felt more ambitious. Here's the original topic from 2006:

Re: Favorite aviation magazine(s)?

Kitplanes
Sport Aviation (EAA)
Pilot (AOPA)

Where what I subscribed to. I've dropped EAA and AOPA though because they keep sending me crap in the mail. I don't mind advertising, heck I work in print media. But the constant mailings for life insurance and this and that, ugh.

My absolute favorite for airport reading (because most FBO's have a few copies sitting around ) is Pacific Flyer. I may even have to subscribe one of these days. Any aviation with a swimsuit edition is okay with me.

(AOPA stopped using them for a few months, but they are back). Worst, they send me junk mail every week wanting me to buy something.

After seeing what Plane and Pilot did with a good OBP article by turning it into a 6 page advertisement, I will not be signing up with them either. I don't watch TV ads and have stopped looking at internet video stories from major networks because of their commercials before you see the main story.

I feel better now.

PS: I am so sick of the Republicans calling for money every night, that I have been telling them that I am voting for Obama. That's how pissed I am!
I hear you mister. I sent money to a couple of candidates and now they won't stop. It's like when the JWs or the Mormons show up at the door. I used to ask them in for some "grape koolaid" but now none of them are old enough to know what the hell I'm talking about. Maybe I should get a steak knife setup for my nose to scare the bastards away. I stopped NRA years ago because of the DAILY calls for money.
