favorite tires (tricycle)
Avionics, airplane covers, tires, handheld radios, GPS receivers, wireless Wx uplink...any product related to backcountry aircraft and flying.
Well, the cracks in my tires sidewalls are about big enough to stick my finger in, so it's time to shop for some new tires. I'm pretty happy with the current setup (8.00-6 mains and 6.00-6 nose(all McCreary Airhawk) on '66 182). I'm looking at the McCreary Airtrac and Airhawk and maybe the Condor tires. A majority of my flying is on a grass strip, and the Airtrac tires are said to be preferred for softer fields. Anyone have a favorite?

You will want Desser's "Monster Retread" for the nose tire.

I have the original size tires and wheels. I use Goodyear Flight Customs. I land on some very rough strips and have never had any problems. I have used the air hawks but I like the Goodyears best. Bob Cessna 182B.

I have the Landes nose fork on my 172 and currently run GY 8.50x6 on all three tires per the STC. We're going to put the double puck clevelands on it and go for a field approval on the GY 26x10.5x6's for the mains until I get to Oregon next year for some BW's enroute to BC.

Goodyears are the best and are priced accordingly. Air Hawks are better than Air Tracs. Air Tracs have too many grooves and throw rocks into the bottom of your wings, tail and prop. (an opinion). Best bang for the buck is the Retreads,(an opinion), but if your mostly on grass, your tires will dry rot before they wear out, so I would go with either the Goodyears or the Air Hawks.
