Field approval help on prop for Continental IO-360
Lycoming, Continental, Hartzell, McCauley, or any broad spectrum drive system component used on multiple type.
I have a Maule M-5 210 and that currently has a 74 in prop on that i would like to change. From the research i have done probably a C-201 with 80-84 inch blades. I am not set on any one prop and would like suggestions. If you have done this or something similar i would like to visit and possibly obtain a copy of your 337 to make things easier.
My engine is a: continental model IO360 d33
My current prop is a: McCauley d2a34c67-no series:710082 Blade #76c-2
Thanks

Farmer,
I think the c203 is the most common long prop replacement. Check out maulepilots.org. There are a number of threads on props for the io-360 e.g.:
http://maulepilots.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1711&highlight=io360Jim, aero101, over at the Muale site has done a number of field approvals, and is always full of good information.

I've been digging around looking at prop options for a TCM IO360. The biggest prop I've been able to find that has been vibration tested is the 82" C203. I was hoping for a 84" but no luck as of yet. The nice thing about the 82" C203 is they are used on the Cessna 182 so finding a good used one should be pretty easy.
If you find something bigger please share.

I guess it was meant to be because in our local A&P just just pulled off a c203 80 inch off a 182 with about 400 hrs. Jim up at North Star Aero was a big help. Now i will see how long it takes to get the field approval. Thanks a bunch ill hopefully be letting y'all know soon how much it helped.
Thanks
Justin

FWIW the R172K uses a 80" C203 on the TCM IO-360. So does the XP mods STC for that engine on the C170.

I've got an 82" C203 on my 180, down to minimums at about 80.5". It'd be perfect for cutting down & cleaning up at 80". If & when I find myself an 88" seaplane prop, it will be available very reasonably.

I'm getting pretty excited getting a new prop is finally becoming a reality. Aero101 was a huge help sending me 337s that he had done. I found a c203 82 inch used prop for $3000 with 500hrs. Is that cheap or expensive or about right?

Do a search on barnstormers: propeller, then MacCauley.
Maybe not C203's, but Preferred Airparts seems to have lots of McCauley props in OH'd condition for sale for between $4 & 5 K.
