First flying video of 2019

Weather is bleak here in Chicagoland. Time to put together a "best of" clip reel. Helicopters, gliders, tail draggers and UTVs all made for a fun year!

What kind of gimble were you using in that last chase on take off shot? It was really smooth and I thought it was a drone until the end of the run.

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”

It was a very expensive one made by a Japanese company. The downside is that it weighs about 3,000 pounds. The upside is that you can drive it for burgers after the shoot.

It was a 2018 Subaru Impreza with a sticky mount on the hood holding a GoPro7 with stabilization turned on. I was shocked at how well that turned out. I had already tried two other approaches that day with gimbals and other cameras. Nothing came close to how the one in the video turned out.

If we ever get some snow, I'm planning to do something similar this winter with the plane on skis chased by a snowmobile. *fingers crossed*

Wow that is seriously impressive for in camera stabilization. I may have to get me a 7 now. So many toys so little money.

The Germans insist that everything be done very precisely.
