I think it sounds bad written down, much like the real costs of owning an aircraft. Just try to avoid reality.
In over 1000 hrs on my 0-300 I put half a quart in for almost every tank full - 4 hrs or so. You just get used to it:) It only changed once when I had a ring break and it went up dramatically.
Unless on a long leg I never filled over 6qts.

Thanks!

I was going to do it on the flying club 150 but never got it done. There is quite a bit of reading on this subject and most everyone that bought the new longer fitting or modified the old one were happy. That new improved fitting through Continental was around 190cdn$ pesos so they don’t give it away.

My experience may have been extreme but the extended breather tube did not help. I was using nuchrome cylinders, I think. Tried the breather tube, tried re-ring, tried re-ring and deflate lifters check and replace push rod tubes to clearance specs.,
I may have tried to live with it longer if it was burning oil but it was running waves oil down the belly, just a filthy engine. It also would push out the main crankshaft seal. Oil temps would be 225 at 75 OAT.

They leak a little, burn a little, blow a little. A quart every 6 hours is not excessive.

Really appreciate all the feedback here. I feel much more informed. Headed to CA on Sunday to check this plane out!
