Flight Review or BFR study materials

Hey gang. It's time to smarten up here. Is there a favorite BFR study course that folks rely on around here? I've been more or less inactive for 10 years.

Study before a BFR?? You've got to be kidding!..I just go out and practice a few stalls, slow flight, landings and some timed turns...Oh!.wait..You just said you've been inactive for a while. Why not give yourself a little extra time with the CFI to go over things you have questions about and he (she) can bring you up to date on others..didn't know there was a test on your recolection. :D

I'm not worried about the flight portion. I'm not up to date on all the acronyms, airspace rules, TFR's etc. I just want to reorganize the gray matter around regs and practices. Maybe I'll just get a FAR/AIM and be done with it.

Yup, I hear you. I think HiCountry is right though. Just sit down for a couple hours with a CFI, pour over the sectional, WX reports....they have changed, maybe get a new GPS and smarten up on it. That sort of thing. I think there'a a Decathlon in town for the flight portion.

Sporty's has a few DVD courses that look interesting and not a lot of $$$. I always feel like a dumbshit when I do a civilian BFR. I know what I need to know for where I'm flying for work, but don't pay much attention to the rest of the world. Different colors on a sectional? Distance from clouds??? Why would I give a shit?

Guess they want me to give a shit... #-o

The ASA "guide to the flight review" covers all the basics for VFR and costs less than 10 bucks at most FBOs. I use it when I give flight reviews so I don't forget to cover something. It also gives me a log-able resource so that I can show what materials where covered. Go over a chart, too.
