Float plane dock on the Hudson near Manhattan.

Does anyone know a good spot on the Hudson River to dock a seaplane? Long story short, I have a buddy from Argentina visiting the NYC and he has never been there. I was either going to pick him up at White Plains and bring him to Vermont but ideally could fly the Cub on floats down and surprise him. I don’t think he has much experience in little planes and I think it would be a great introduction to fly the cub all the way up the Hudson, door open, on floats. I don’t have adsb, so I would probably have him take the train out of the big city and meet somewhere on the river. Anyone else taking a plane in there to any of those docks? It’s a long shot but figured I’d ask.

We are NOT near Manhattan, however we have a place on the Rondout Creek in Kingston, just off the Hudson. Our modified hydro hoist for our floatplanes is not in the water at present, however, we do have a 32’ Jet Dock that is. As a fellow BCP member and fellow Cub stick actuator you are welcome to it as long as you need it. Kingston is directly across the Hudson from the Rhinebeck train station. My contact info is at 340AbeelMarina.com. TR

6N7 is there, it’s east river and not Hudson

Lots of requirements and it’s expensive to use, and you can’t hang out there, the conditions can be a little ruf, especially for a small cub like plane, but it’s about as deep into NYC/Manhattan as you can get on floats

TR! That is huge. I was looking around the Kingston area. He could easily take the train out of the city and get off at that stop. Then I’ll grab him. That’s perfect. Thank you!

Thanks for the info on the east river. That’s a bit deeper than I dare venture. Plus no adsb… More of an adventure than I need. But thank you.

Just give me a heads up via telephone so we can discuss arrival/departures in the creek. It’s definitely confined area ops but I have spent a lot of time and av-gas making nice with a lot of the neighbors. No complaints yet. Good to keep it that way. Look forward to meeting you. TR

Same here, let my 185 play you the sound of its people lol

But it’s NYC, they never really did freedom much

For the time I was flying the east river for work, I never had the desire to fly my own plane onto the east river, for a multitude of reasons
