Float season over in Anchorage...Ice on lake , temps in teens, planes tied down for the long winter sleep.

Time for vacation

Was the happiest time of year for me

Get wheels on 206 and head south for Pheasant hunting

Went out for a final 2016 float fly. First full stop was Burntstick Lake. There was ice in the marshy area on the west end, confirming that we'd enjoyed it as long as possible.

Also stopped on Sylvan Lake where we were able to wade ashore and grab a sandwich at Subway.

We discussed a new airshow act while coming out of the water. Floatplane wing Walker!

I always enjoyed the end of the float season in Fairbanks. Planes went to wheels the first week or two of October. After flying floats in some pretty cold weather in Kodiak for a number of years, I figured missing a few float flights really wasn't that important.
Wheels went on, and no need to fly in hip boots for a few months......dig out the Bunny Boots, and get ready for skis.
