Floats for a Citabria 7GCAA

Doe anyone know what if any floats have been certified for the 7GCAA?

Thanks, John / Airpix

EDO 1650's are approved. See: http://www.airweb.faa.gov/Regulatory_an ... enDocument

And, by the way, the FAA Library site has information on every Type Certificate and every Supplemental Type Certificate issued.

So, if you need this sort of information, search that site for the make and model aircraft. Search first under the Type Certificate, since it could be approved there, by the manufacturer.

Then search for STC's for that make/model aircraft.

It's easy, give it a shot.

PK 1800's look like they are on the list as possibly Edo 2000's. Take a look here:

WW,

Nope--read this part from the TCDS:

Pee-Kay 1800 (Champion dwg. 7-1118) (Models 7GC, 7GCB, 7GCBC with
Lycoming O-320 engine, 7ECA, 7HC). Model 7HC
eligible only on aircraft with
Champion dwg. 3-1135 fuselage fittings installed at Champion factory).
198 lb. (+19)
(d) Edo 89A2000 floats including double water rudders
Model 7GCBC
with Lycoming O-320 engine and fitted for steel spring gear.

Nowhere there does it permit installation of ANY float on the 7GCAA. The 7GC is a different airplane, and the GCBC certainly is as well.

PK may have their own stc, but I couldn't find it in the stc database.

I was told by my mechanic that the stc for the 7GC would cover all the 7GC models including the 7GCAA. I'm hoping this is the case but I'm trying to clairify this with the Feds

MTV,

I had read it and saw what you highlighted. I was told basically the same as airpix in that it covered all models ie. 7GC.....
But what do I know. I was just trying to give the guy a place to look.
There are probably several floats approved just need to figure out where to look.

Hey,

It's whatever you can get your friendly local mechanic and Fed to put their signature on.

My point was simply that a 7GC is not the same as a 7GCAA. And a 7GCBC is CERTAINLY not the same beast as a 7GCAA.

But, if you can convince the FAA they are, more power to you. Just be sure to get that IN WRITING from your friendly Fed, and keep THAT in the airplane.

While on the Aeronca / Citabria subejct does anyone know of a site that explains the differences of all the different models? I though it would be easy to find such a site but I'm having no luck.

Re: Floats for a Citabria 7GCAA

I am checking for further info on floats for my 7GCAA. Has anyone been able to get stc'ed floats for this Citabria 7GCAA? I have been told there might be an STC for EDO floats. I am still checking further but thought someone might have already found the answers.
Thanks, Bill
