I did a hike to a remote hot springs, and it made me think about how many fly-in remote (non-commercial) hot springs there really are. And I must be missing a lot. Here is what I have off the top of my head:

Mammoth Lakes, CA / Hot Creek (about 2 miles)
Bridgeport, CA / Travertine Hot Springs (1 mile)
Markleeville, CA / Carson River Hot Springs / Grover Hot Springs (5 mile tough hike to the wilderness one, or 10 mile bike ride to Grovers)
Chicken Strip, CA / Saline Valley Hot Springs
Aqua Caliente Airport, Anza Borrego State Park / Aqua Caliente Springs
Alvord Desert, OR / Alvord Hot Springs
Black Rock Desert, NV / Trego, Double and numerous hot springs (anyone flown in to these)
Johnson Creek, ID / Bathtub

Others?

I've heard Lower Loon, ID has a great hot spring. No personal info though.

Lower loon is real nice. I have a pic but i look like a goob so I ain't posting it.
Warm Springs has a good one but its road accessable...with a short hike.
Bruce meadows has one.
Indian creek has one i havent been able to find but I've heard it is there.
Thomas Creek/ Sunflower and sunflower flats. the one downstream of the strip sucks

I'm going to add hot springs as an airstrip attribute in shortfield.com. This way we'll be able to search on strips with hot springs.

Hello Backcountry Pilots,
The Lower Loon Hot Springs are real nice located about 1/2 mile upstream from the Airstrip. I found the Lower Loon Airstrip to be very smooth with an easy approach low over the Salmon River. It is fairly short and is a one way airstrip. The book Fly Idaho, over rates this particular airstip in my opinion, and under-rates the Dewey Moore Airstrip.
Anyway this is a great hot springs with no sulfur smell. Good camping is to be had at the confluence of Loon Creek and the Salmon River if the rafters have not got there first.

Just FYI the camp at the Loon Middle confluence is an assigned rafting camp. You can camp there if you fly in but be prepared for camping close to a group of boaters

this is my favorite but you need a supercub or a helicopter to get there and I cant remember the coordinates rite now

I've been fascinated by them for years, and have camped at many. Only recently been flying to them.

There are tons of books, websites, and maps on hot springs. There are also some spreadsheets out there that have lat, lon, temp, flow and other data that I like to use. If I'm going to be exploring some new area, I sort the spread sheet for the springs in the area, then export the data to a mapping program and use that as a guide. I think the spread sheet came from usgs website, but I'm not sure. Hey Zane or Chris, is there a way to upload a spreadsheet to either site? Since the spread sheet came from a public domain source, I'm assuming there is not a copyright issue?

An easy way would be to use regular Google Maps, which can show terrain or sat overlays, like in this tutorial.

For actual Google Earth, someone would have to add all the points in GE, then export a .kml file (Keyhole Markup Language, basically XML data with Google Earth custom fields.)

I like the first option, as it requires only a web browser.

IF I'm reading it right tho, I still would have to enter each one individually wouldn't I? Which of course, I'm way to lazy to do.. ha ha...

There are 'data entry' people out there that would make short work of it......
OR, the way we do it (boss & I), one person reads and the other types.......
Where there is a will there is a way!

I could do the scut work of data entry (with help for efficiency) but manipulating the info with fancy programs to make it 'dance', well, the wrong generation plus a shriveled brain is quite a hurdle.

It does sound like a great plan........to put them on Google earth, or computerized topo maps might be even better.....
