Fly pasts!

My brother videoed a few fly pasts I did yesterday in my plane - a Rotax 447 powered ultralight, goes well!

Looks fun! I learned to fly behind (in front of) a Rotax 503.

In the US, we call these a "fly by" or "low pass."

Nice Tomo, was this in the 38c heat yesterday? I was going out to Gundi to pick up my son but 30kt head winds and a 30 degree temp at 5000' I turned for home. We're not to far away from each other as the crow flies, can you give me some directions would love to drop in and say g'day.

Re: Fly pasts!

Thanks guys!

G'day John, the dirt road/strip I use is the neighbours and with a powerline at one end, so depends on the aircraft you fly as to what would be safe to get in out... it is 800mtrs so not really a problem, but there is a 1500mtr crop dusting all weather gravel strip down the road a few minutes, that is a great strip. Just on the edge of the Oakey airspace on the Twb, Cecil Plains road running nor, south. Where about's are you? And what aircraft do you usually fly?

And yes I was out in the heat and wind... wasn't as bad around 4pm but still pretty warm and windy - 15kts or so on the ground I would imagine.

Re: Fly pasts!

Glad to hear another 2 stroke on this forum! My last machine had a 503 before this one which has a 582. I have a lot of hours behind them. Can't beat the power to weight.

Out of Casino at the moment, 1980 Maule M5 235c still getting used to her. Yeah it was a mongrel of a day for sure. Heading overseas for a couple of weeks, I'll get in touch when I get back, see if we can organise a day to fly over and check out your strip.

Sounds like a plan! I'll be away for a couple weeks from the 24th November but after that should be fine I would imagine. Have fun O/S!

I've heard some Canadians refer to them as a "low and over", eh.

Re: Fly pasts!

This really has become an international site. Ending the spoken sentence with "you know?" is the American/English language equivalent of "eh?" but even the damn the English speak the language with a funny accent and you'd think they could speak it without one since they invented it. :D

For the US., Canadian, Australian and New Zealand pilots all active on this board in just the last week, I enjoyed them all and point out we are just pilots separated by a common language that come here to fly in our time off. Share what you have, it's all good. =D>

In Qld we end the sentence with "aye" ... well maybe not even end the sentence but have a complete conversation with "aye", "yeah", and "righto"
