Re: FLYING CAR

I don't get it. It doesn't seem to fly... does it? Does a paraglider attach to it or something?

Re: FLYING CAR

Lame video, they could at least show it flying, if it even flies.

A Brit built a flying dune buggy last year and flew it from London to Timbuktu. Here's a link to a video of it on their website.

I've seen the "flight video" and it's a 40mph (claim) air machine. Not very quick --most mopeds will out run it. Need something with a "Real airplane " not powered kite.

I'd like to see something like the car combined with the "flying Motorcycle" concept using this guy's folding Gyroplane blades. This one claims 70mph.

Re: FLYING CAR

There's a pretty big article on this on this months Sport Aviation mag. It's based off a Powered Parachute concept. It uses a mast to haul the chute up a pole so you don't have to lay it out on the ground to launch it. The chute is stored on the roof during road ops. Interesting concept...gotta give the guy credit for trying to develop it. I'm sure he's sunk his heart, soul, and all his finances into the project.

It's definitely a cool concept. How many of those powered parachute guys haul their beasts behind their rigs in a trailer? Looks like a much funner, more versatile, and more practical way to haul the chute.

Re: FLYING CAR

It's a purpose built machine that solves a couple of specific problems very well. Not designed to be sexy or fast. Not designed to compete with a 185, Super Cub, etc.

40 mph in a straight line is hypersonic compared to the previous alternative of a medical team walking through the Amazon rainforest or PNG jungle or whatever for a week at a time. That is the main purpose of this aircraft, to allow flight in and out of small clearings surrounded by jungle, for missionary work.

They want to be able to train the natives or average missionary folks to fly the damn things. It also is a purpose built off-road vehicle to be able to traverse dirt roads and trails without an "airplane trailer" behind it.

Re: FLYING CAR

Here's our approach. We studied a variety of solutions and decided to pursue one with few compromises. The result... 157 knots in the air and 85mph on the ground.
