Re: Flying gloves

Zane,

Have you thought about getting some thicker wool gloves like the ORs in your photo, and cutting off the fingertips? Most of my liner gloves end up like that anyway. If it isn't really cold, it's a nice combo of dexterity and warmth. Plus, you can still diddle around on your iPad.

x2 Nomex (and wool) for the reasons above.

Re: Flying gloves

My man Vick hooked me up with a pair of Nomex flight gloves, gratis...they fit like a...glove. I'm typing in them. :)

Thanks Vick!

These are expensive, but the leather contact surface solves your slipping feeling. I have bought several items from these folks and find the products to be first class.

If it gets even colder than you expect, put a chemical toe warmer from Grabbers into each and you will be toasty for several hours.

+1 for these. We fly with them for a lot of the year, well worth the cost. Use them both in the Pavehawk and the 170B. When it's really cold, use them as a liner for a pair of mountaineering gloves or mitts, and the rest of they time, they're just right. Can even run the iPhone screen with them, which isn't the case with a lot of gloves.

Re: Flying gloves

It might be worth checking out the snowmobile or dirt bike shops to see what they have to offer.

Re: Flying gloves

These have built in position lights (I'm sure green is available), which also provide good panel illumination at night. Great value. Avionics manipulation capability may be slightly diminished, but as is well understood in aviation - most equipment constitutes a compromise for certain mission profiles.
