I really enjoy Pilot Getaways. The latest issue has a great article on Ryan Airfield in MT. There have been several good articles on the Idaho Backcountry as well. While it is not a hardcore backcountry/mountain flying publication, it does do a good job of covering several great destinations.

I liked Plane and Pilot. They did do a mix of articles. Had too many magazines though and ended up dropping them in favor of AOPA (which I get as a member), and Kitplanes (not that I'll ever build but I like the subject matter).

Life is good. Life is better with wings.
There used to be a couple of magazines back in the 90's that were pretty good: "Affordable Flying" and "Sport Pilot-Hot Kits & Homebuilts". Both published by the same folks down in California. Norm & Bob Goyer were both involved. They both just kinda disappeared (the mags, not the Goyers).
Northern Pilot was pretty good. General Aviation news (the "pink pages") used to be pretty good, now not even the classifieds are worth it. EAA's Vintage Airplane is pretty good.
