flying skills

...now here is some theory, practice, and procedures to think about:

...remember, life is uncertain, eat desert first!
... and, those that pound their guns into plows, will plow for those who don't.

That was unbelievable!

That has to be the most skilled, coolest reaction, balls-bigger-than-King Kong demonstration of piloting skills I have ever seen! That guy had seconds to understand what happened, figure out what to do, and execute! My hat is absolutely off to him!

I would have liked to see how steady on his feet he was when he got out of the cockpit!

Maybe if you're into flying RC models.... 8)

I got an e-mail this morning with that video clip in it...

My BS meter swung to the right a bit more every time I watched it....

Some thoughts:

The wing comes off at what looks like a relatively light load factor.

The bounce is too high when it hits the ground, and the ground roll
is too short for a full-size aircraft.

The footage is "conveniently blurred" during the transition from
RC model to the full-size, taxiing aircraft.

The prop stops awefully quick (I would think a full size prop would
have more rotational inertia / energy and not come to such a quick
stop like that).

Still, someone is a good RC model stick!

Looks alot like this:

I've seen R/C clips of the same thing and whether it was the real plane or an RC it still takes alot of skill to not auger straight into the ground.

Fake... CGI is obviously used at the end of the clip.

I think so too. I don't know how you could flare like that. Your rudder wouldn't have enough authority to hold the plane in that attitude. That's my thoughts anyway.

I say fake just because of the depth of field weirdness at the end.

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”

Bullshit....

I'd say fake, too. I think my first reaction after stopping the plane is to get the hell outa there!! The pilot looked a little too relaxed (unless he was in shock).

Fake. If you freeze the clip at the beginning you'll notice that the paint scheme has a white trim stripe along fuselage and up tail, which is suspiciously missing at the end of the clip after plane has landed. (no white stripe) Hmmm....

I think it was Snopes that reported that if you go to the supposed pilot's website he and the plane are emblazoned with some German clothing companies logo-ware and surprise, the clothing company is also the owner of the website -- leading one to the suspicion that it's just viral marketing.
