Flying to Arizona end of March-first of April

Flying to Arizona end of March-First of April...
Would like to know of some good strips and good places to go. Possibly two or three planes. Would like to hear comments on backcountry strips that are not too difficult for a tricycle gear, good scenery, good places to overnight (no camping), and just good fly-in places. Planning on Sedona, Prescot, Old Tucson, Payson etc.
As I mentioned before the Chicken Strip might be a possibility if time permits.
Want to fly Monument Valley also. Propably coming down eatern side of the Rockies through CO, into New Mexico and then west.

You are missing some prime sightseeing by not atleast going through SE Utah, either on your way down, or way back. If you go through this area, Gateway/Hubbard is a must see. Great restaurant, good dirt strip, old car museum, you can camp, get a room, or keep going.

There is a cool hotspring/cafe you can fly into about 20 mi. N of Alamosa.

If you get in the area of St. Johns AZ., fly south to the Salt/Black River, and fly it down to Roosevelt Lake. That is a cool canyon. You can also fly the salt on down to Phx.if you like, or you can fly from Roosevelt over to Payson, or go over and pick up the Verde River, and fly it up toward Prescott. If you are by the Verde, you might as well check out Red Creek, on the Verde.

There is a Planes of Fame up N. of Williams, airport is called Valle. Good stop, Cafe close by. Also in that area is Marble canyon, just down river from Lake Powell. Good strip/cafe,scenery.

That should get you started Gary

If you want to go up, pull back on the controls. If you want to go down, pull back farther.

Dig around on here and on SF Explorer for Red Creek, AZ...just NE of Phoenix. Nice dirt strip and camping area. Hafast took me in there last December when I was in Phoenix.

I'm actually going to be in Phoenix again from 21-29 March....driving round trip from Colorado Springs though. Lots of the AZ guys are doing a fly-in thing to Sedona on the 28th for some breakfast I think.
