That's OK. I don't like that either.

I like the show. The people are real enough, not too much peril (or hand wringing about the peril).

They do a good job promoting aviation: every episode I have seen mentions how important aviation is to the local community and they take the job seriously.

I have had coworkers and neighbors mention the show in a positive light. I've gone from a "old creepy guy w/a airplane" to at least a little interesting (if still old and creepy).

That's me loading a kitchen sink on my Caravan...headed to Hoonah. I was quite satisfied at that moment that I had, indeed, shipped everything in SE Alaska, including the kitchen sink....hence the picture

Re: Flying Wild Alaska

show is good - i watch it when i can, but hard not to be a critic. Last night, showed one of the guys getting iced up, ice on windshield, Vis down to maybe 1 mile, then on another angle when they showed him landing, it's 15 mile vis, clear sky,.... :?

Was up in Yellowknife at the Midnight Sun Fly in, and they were filming episode 12 or 13 of next year. Was talking to the camera guy - said they film a bunch of shots on a day and use them for many different flights. I guess it makes sense, and the average guy wouldnt likely notice.

How much of the program is dictated by what the faw can see?

They must have a editorial session dedicated to FAR compliance?

Love watching this show, though it's only little bits on-line as we don't have Disc Channel :(

Re: Flying Wild Alaska

G'day,
I have watched only a couple of episodes when i was recently in the USA. Australia is a long way behind and then only via Pay TV when it comes to shows like this. (Although we seem to get plenty of the other stupid reality shows on free to air.) I was hooked as i have never seen some of the conditions that they have to fly in there. Amazed at how humans let alone the aircraft can function in temps that low. Kudos to the pilots and ramp rats. I just can't do cold like that. If i was flying in the turbulance i saw that 207 flying in I would not be able to hang on to that brace tube as i'd be barfing into a bag all the time. Looking forward to seeing more.

Re: Flying Wild Alaska

I'm wondering if Ariel is really motivated to learn how to fly, or is it just the latest "cool thing" for her to do.

Seems to me she's got a lot going on upstairs; her SA gets lost in the background radiation that are her thoughts. :?

Re: Flying Wild Alaska

I have to give Gear and Backcountry Tundra a pass as they are stuck with Canadian programming and long cold ass winters. :P

Ariel is a fruitcake wannabe realty show star but with the attention span of some, she will probably run for Mayor of Bethel and win. LOL

I know a former mayor of Bethel, and Ariel is smarter.

Sorry Gump, didn't mean to offend. I was going to say Wasilla but didn't want this topic to go to Hot Air. =D>

Ariel Is what ever she and the producers want to project her as in order to get the best ratings. If you are going to judge anyone by a reality show please be aware they are in the business of making money and everyone has a role that will in their opinion increase rating.

One of today's loads to Takotna. I had to ask the recipient if they bought a house in Anchorage and decided to ship it out. :)

There's a lot of room in these pigs with the co-pilot seat, pedals and yoke out...
