FlyQ Lifetime black friday special

I just received an e-mail that they are offering lifetime FlyQ subscriptions for $299 / limit 500.

I've used the app, it's not bad. I'm considering it. It sure beats the price of foreflight.

Is anyone else tempted / is this a good deal?

It's free for AOPA members, I've been using it for about 18 months now and it works nice, version 2.0 is scheduled to come out in February with moving map display and a few other nice features.

Re: FlyQ Lifetime black friday special

Dale - FlyQ EFB was never free to AOPA members as far as I know. Their web planning version was, but it was called FlyQWeb or something and was only accessible through the AOPA website, not as an app. It was branded under the AOPA name, but it is built by Seattle Avionics and they are ending their partnership with AOPA. It's had a moving map forever. They just upgraded to version 1.4.3. Some of the nice features are terrain and obstacle avoidance, 3D synthetic vision, ADS-B weather and traffic from many devices (not just the Stratus like in Foreflight), plates on the map, extended runways, distance measurement systems, and wind-optimized flight planning. I used it all last year and its a good app (FlyQ was a sponsor of our show). They've added a lot of features to make it very competitive to Foreflight. I liked the app a lot.

Re: FlyQ Lifetime black friday special

Anybody know whether the SE Alaska charts continue into Canada? I recall hearing that these charts were chopped off at the border.

I just posted a query on the SA website and they do not yet support Canadian charts but hinted that this may be under negotiation.

Seems like a pretty good deal.....

You can check it real quick, it's a free download for a 30 day trial on the app store.

There is no Canada data in this package, but that may just mean no nav canada data.

Canada is not available yet, they are working on it. Canadian charts are a for profit enterprise, apparently that makes things very expensive.
They do have a low altitude IFR chart that runs up the West coast to AK.

My screwup, #-o fly-q pocket is the free version I have been using on an IPhone and android tablet, it will continue to be free after the new version comes out in February, fly-q efb is a much more detailed version that I don't have, and which is NOT free.

Looks like they do have the US charts that continue into Canada, at least near Alaska.
