Re: follow me

It looks like only the camera panning is set to follow, but still needs a pilot. It would be cool if the copter was also set to follow. You could program it to maintain a distance of 10' in front of you and 10' off the ground at all times. It would be like a robotic cameraman. I'm sure someone is working on it.

Not to change the subject, but what's up with the "rope-tow" style wake board facility? And, if there isn't a boat wake, can you still call it wake boarding?

Re: follow me

Similar concept here but this is my buddies product in Reno. Just not the "follow me". You need a driver but it works pretty darn good. Going to trying with the plane on some landings, etc., here soon. Worked great in Alaska filming and has huge range. He is now flying it into big waves. Things are getting interesting.

Re: follow me

I was at the local hobby shop the other day and a guy was flying a copter real similiar to that using his Iphone 4 gyro and a wireless connection it was pretty impressive.

Re: follow me

I just watched that demo reel again...seriously the coolest footage I've seen. Zane, BCP needs a fund raiser so we can get some gear like that to document the fly in. ;)

Re: follow me

Emmet- All the more reason you guys need to come up and fly with us. These are guys are pretty fired up to film some plane stuff. Sort of working on an idea for us to get fired up and do some more flying...

Re: follow me

The cable pull systems are almost the only ride you can get in some Euro countries do to the so called "pollution" from boats.

I tried it at the first one in the U.S. in Orlando. Very cool, we had a rough day cause the wind was howling but on a perfect flat day it's got to be real neat.

I believe there are several fixed installs now in the states and several portable units they haul from city to city for the Tour.

Re: follow me

Nice copter footage on that Reno stuff! What i need to know is what happens when you wipe out in the middle of the pond on the wakeboard? Do you have to swim home or does the cable pick you back up?

Re: follow me

Catching the cable?

I didn't know either. and wiped out 3 rd turn. You figure it out (swim). The lake I was on had a floating dock going around the course.

When you first launch tow rope grabs cable at designated spot and off you go almost the same as a boat launch off a dock.

Overhead wire just goes round and round like a ski lift just faster. Tow rope lets go at certain spot on command.

Really cool for a small pond or lake with some ramps and such.
