Not necessarily information about airstrips or airports, but more general info about a greater area or a route of flight.

???For you folks that fly around Hailey Idaho???

I stopped into Hailey a couple years ago for fuel on my way to JC. Big mistake $7/gal. After leaving there and talking to someone, I thought they mentioned a place SW of there where you could buy mogas. Maybe an airport, maybe a road/field next to a gas station, don't remember, or maybe Picabo, altough that is SE of Hailey. Anybody familiar with the area know of the options for mogas in the area, or cheaper 100LL?

Thanks gary

If you want to go up, pull back on the controls. If you want to go down, pull back farther.

Swingle's video where he visits Picaboo, ID had him landing on the grass runway and towing the airplane up to the gas station pumps by hand. Don't know about ethanol?

I stopped at Picabo, ID (ID82) a couple of weeks ago. Friendly and helpful folks at the store/gas station and they have a ladder to loan if you need it. You are not allowed to taxi up to the pumps, but must taxi to the side-road (not the main highway) and then push your plane to and from the pumps. One of the staff helped me push mine.

I think the gas was contaminated by ethanol.

Re: ???For you folks that fly around Hailey Idaho???

Steve pretty much covered Picabo, I don't know about ethanol there. SW of Hailey is Magic Reservoir but I don't think there is pumps there. I have never seen any there but I haven't looked. Fairfield is also SW of Hailey and there is a gas station across the street but I've never heard of anyone taxiing their plan over to the pumps. Because out how the station is positioned it would be kinda tough.

Arco is 42nm east of Hailey and has pretty good 100LL prices. They started setting up for mogas at arco but ran out of money. They have the pump and tank there but for some reason it stalled; now they are using that tank and pump for 100LL.

Gooding is good too and is 41nm SSW. The price they show doesn't include tax so its not as good as you think when you start pumping...I was pretty disappointed when I looked at my receipt after getting fuel there once.

Use the SS pumps at Arco before we head into Smiley as a last fuel stop. Have done this the last three years. The mngr was mowing grass with a tractor out on the west end of the field and he came in to help us. Gas was $4.40/gal.

Whee, you got me wondering so I just dug out my receipt from Gooding. Th price posted at the pumps ($3.95/gal) was the final price I was charged per gallon. The receipt shows $3.71/gal and then adds in the taxes to arrive at the posted price. $3.95 was about .50 cheaper than any of my other stops from this trip and a full dollar cheaper than McCall, so I'd stop there again if it's anywhere near my route. Pretty quiet around there though, not a lot going on otherwise.

Thanks for the correction Vick, I was hoping you'd check your receipt.

Last fall I flew between Boise and Idaho Falls twice a week. My route was usually north of Gooding but one time I diverted south because of weather. Thought I'd stop for fuel because I always hear it is less expensive. When I looked at my receipt it was ~20 cents more than posted...was still a good price but not nearly as good as I was expecting. Glad to know they post the real price now..kinda felt like they gave me the bait-and-switch.
