Foreflight Canada

Hey everyone, was just wondering if foreflight is offering the Canadian VFR sectionals yet?
The trial I downloaded only has IFR low and high charts for up here.

Thanks.

Re: Foreflight Canada

If Nav Canada just raised the fees they charge they could get it done faster.

Probably about as fast as the free elective medical care. :D

Foreflight Canada

The issue is not Foreflight. The issue is that the VFR sectionals are not properly digitized for ANY EFB or online vendor to offer.

The thing that sucks is I'll bet pilots have died because they can't get the best available mapping technology. This is not some big secret how to do this. Heck we had pilots doing this is their basement for fun. For awhile anyway.

Re: Foreflight Canada

I used a program called MapQuest to digitize government charts in 1991 !

We hired a guy for $10/hour and it worked great ( slow but accurate ). =D>

Re: Foreflight Canada

Also just noticed the flight planning features do not work in Canada either. I'm not surprised that its a Nav Can issue.

Thanks for the info guys

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

Oh, nevermind. Hope they get those charts for you guys soon. As much as I think our govnment f's up sometimes, occasionally they get things right, topo maps and charts seem to be one and the data available for use.

Not sure what you mean here. I can plan a flight through Canada just fine, either by typing in the waypoints or touch planning, and can see ETAs, ETEs, headings etc. and view the route on either the world map or the street map. If I subscribed to Canada maps I could view the route on IFR low charts. I can even use the planned route to populate the plan and file screen, get a limited briefing from Navcanada info, and I can file the plan from my US starting point to my first Canadian destination. Just did this as recently as November.

All I can't do is view the flight on Canadian "VFR" sectional charts since they don't exist in digital format anywhere. It's unclear to me if I can file my flight plan from a Canadian point of origin using Foreflight (never tried it - I just call it in when in Canada.)

I must of done something wrong, Seems like it will let me file it today. Just not sure it's with 150 bucks for the Canadian subscription.

Re: Foreflight Canada

Remarkably I can use LAT/LAN flight planing, Airport info, WX, FBO, Waypoint, heading etc etc....

Just overlay with a physical VNC chart if needed. I plan on using FF in Canada when it fills some hole or saves me time.

Sure we will see more VFR support on future releases...I hope

Re: Foreflight Canada

I wonder what the holdup could possibly be with the CFS. I can go to any number of sites to download other similar publications like the AIM/AIP as .pdf docs. Every TC, NAVCANADA, Coast Guard, Military employee can download a .pdf copy of the CFS, just not the rest of us. Maybe try piratebay.org to see if some kind Prometheus is bypassing this oppression?
