Foreflight Comments Please

Hah! I'll bet you thought I wanted comments about Foreflight, but no.

I'm reminding everyone about a powerful feature that Foreflight has and that's the ability for us users to comment not only on the airports we land at, but we can also comment about a specific FBO at said airport in the FBO section.

Watching the threads about Dawson and Haines reminded me how powerful this feature is for fellow pilots. I've commented over the years but have to admit no where as frequently as I could.

For those pilots flying cross country or across Countries this is a hugely valuable service. So please, even if you only stay close to home, comment about your airport. Things like how to get a ride to town, what places to stay at, the best food, is there fuel at the airport, who to call in an emergency, etc.

Thanks

Re: Foreflight Comments Please

I agree! I've made a few comments but could make more.

I thought the same thing about Dawson City... It sounds like everyone who has been recommends it but until I asked I couldn't find much to decided if it was worth spending a couple of extra days on the trip. Now that I have some info I'm definitely going unless the weather stops me!

The only thing I'll add is Foreflight uses the first part of your email address as your name on the comments. In my case my email address contains most of my name .... leaving me without much privacy. When I asked Foreflight about this, they assumed I wanted to make a negative comment and said if I did that I shouldn't try to be anonymous. They were wrong. I was making a positive comment about an FBO but I'm just a little cautious about my name being publicly displayed forever to the whole world. The only option they offered me was to create a different email address and use that to register with Foreflight. Those comments apparently stay forever as I see some 5 or 6 years old. So if you want more privacy, use a different email address than your normal one.

Having said that, I agree with Phil... let's make some comments!

Re: Foreflight Comments Please

I also use the comments a lot flying across the country, specifically in regards to fuel availability or lack thereof or difficulty thereof. One user named Jimbo in his long EZ doing a post-divorce trip to all the states that end in Y or A leaving a comment that you gotta call billy bob's sister at the muffler shop down the street to get fuel can really save someone like me a lot of headache. Thanks Jimbo.

I would certainly make comments, but don’t want to take the chance of possibly being associated with Phil and Keith.

No need to worry about that Greg. I changed my email address to [email protected] so my comments will appear as if you made them. No one will ever make the connection. :D
