Does anyone know the condition or usage of this airstrip located at what seems to be Foresthill High School in Foresthill, CA?

Shoot......Too bad you didn't post this a day or two ago. I took my kids up to breakfast at Wings Grill/KAUN then headed up the hill to Blue Canyon to see if it was landable yet or not. It wasn't - Still about a foot of snow on the runway. Shouldn't last long though at almost 70 degrees air temp, once we get past this week's storm. Followed the river back down to the Foresthill bridge for the kids to see.....Didn't know there was an old airstrip just a couple miles away. Next time I'm up that way I will check it out.
Dann Shively, who is quoted for many of the abandoned airstrips on the website you linked is the KCRA - 3 helicopter pilot. He interviewed me about a year back for the evening news regarding alleged fuel theft at KSAC. They had word that it was pilots siphoning gas. Nice guy, not sure I'd given him the on camera interview otherwise. If I see him out at KSAC I'll ask him what he knows.

Used to be a strip associated with a lumber mill there.
All grown over now.
I used to go up there often in the early 70's (dirt bikes) and it wasn't used much then.
It's to bad as it would be a great breakfast/lunch/camping spot. Something Kommifornia is sorely missing.

Back when I was flying out of SAC, pre-google or google earth, I flew over looking for the landing area. The mill site was undeveloped and rough, rolling ground. I didn't recognize the strip of ground in the trees as a landing area, but at that time I don't think I would recognize many of our current Idaho airstrips as being useable for landing. I remember looking at the mill site and thinking that being that high up in the mountains, there wouldn't be enough room to take off, even if it was graded. There used to be a great restaurant in Forest Hill that would've been a nice fly in dinner spot.
