I'm always looking for a better mousetrap. Been back and forth across the US-Canada border a few times this year with 4 different aircraft and haven't had any issues at all with the CBP eAPIS system. Or with the customs stickers, or with the flight plans. To enter Canada I just file a "Notice of Departure" on eAPIS, call Leidos for a flight plan (I don't trust any of the software systems) and get a border-crossing transponder code at the same time. In remote locations I even ask Leidos for an "Assumed Departure" that automatically opens the flight plan at a specified time without contacting an FSS through an RCO.
Canada Customs want a phone call 2 hrs minimum before arrival and then another phone call on landing in Canada - be aware that you may be on hold for more than 30 minutes. Have never provided them with any forms and they've never asked for any.
I'll have look at Flashpass myself to see what advantages are to be had, looks like it might take care of the Mexico eAPIS which would be a bonus if you fly down that way. AOPA mentioned the app back in March as being helpful.

I spent over 20 minutes on hold waiting for Canada Customs last week waiting to amend my arrival time to half an hour earlier. Eventually I just hung up and took off and the arrival time pretty much worked out because of the time on hold

I’m just figuring out FlashPass, and I expect it will be of value. Biggest pain point for me filling out eApis is the keystrokes required for listing the lodging address of each passenger individually. What a nuisance, when often, it’s family or friends, and we are all staying the same place.
EApis was designed for CBP, with an inconsiderate interface for users. I’ll definitely be trying this app.

We used Flashpass on our last trip and it made the filing very easy. I was so impressed that I actually emailed them and posted on the AOPA forums as well. The ability to store passenger info really speeds up the process.
Thank you for such a great app.

I have been using Flasspass for 5+ years. Great product. Definitely recommend it. So much easier than the eApis website.

I like the ability to scan a passport and it auto fills the fields. Cool.
Wish list: I fill the actual departure airport, and Flashpass figures out which AOA is nearest to report as the official point of departure from the US.
