Forum Look and Format

Zane,

So, a looooonnnnggggg time ago, you started changing the forum look and format, with the promise that it would change again in "a while".

So, my question is this: Is THIS it? Is this the look and format this site is going to continue with?

Curious.

Re: Forum Look and Format

Ya a couple of BCP'ers pretty much stopped checking the site out, they can't stand the format. My eyes are going crossed looking at this "temporary" site! I'll never pass my medical at this rate! What's up? :P

Re: Forum Look and Format

Sorry guys, but yes, this is still the interim look and feel. BCP 2.0 has been slow to come together, mainly because it involves integrating several pieces of software to make your logins work across the board for all features. The look and feel though will be noticeably different, and hopefully easier on your eyes.

What exactly is it about this version that burns your eyes? Lots of white? The green/white contrast or lack thereof? Different layout of links, etc from the old PHPBB version?

Now I have to play the poor me card: I had a fairly major surgery in mid-april, and most of my programming/web development time has been for paying projects. The free stuff kind of takes a back seat. When it's done though it will be much more full featured and enjoyable to browse, as there will be more than just the forum.

For you guys that are losing your vision, there is a temporary solution until I finish the new site. I can download pre-built themes for PHPBB3 and install them, and in your profile you can switch to a different theme that may be easier on your eyes. Browse though this list by selecting themes from the drop-down menu at the upper right: http://www.phpbb.com/styles/demo/3.0/?style_id=59 I kinda like the one called "DirtyBoard 2.0" haha.

Let me know if you like one and I'll install it, you can them override this default theme should you choose. Theme "maxthon" should look familiar to you.

Thanks for your patience.

Zane,

Just razzin ya. Good things come to those who wait, and patience is a virtue, I just haven't perfected those traits  I hope you get better soon, so most importantly you can get back to flying. And the worst thing is the ultra-white background. But I am addicted to BCP so I will sacrifice as needed for the greater cause  :P [-o<

Zane,

Not meaning to pick on you, I really was just curious. I can fully appreciate your need to focus on things that pay the bills, and surgery can sure put a hitch in that gitalong.

Take your time, and do it right...

I'm not concerned about the wrapper. It's the content that trips my tailwheel. Thanks for the site in any form. Where do we send the donations?

Some of us GOM-Grumpy Ol' Men- are not too computer savy. Just a reminder that most of these computer monitors have adjustments for the intensity of what is displayed. If the white is too white, why, turn it down a bunch. Your in control, not Dudly-do-right. This isn't a plot to chase off the members.......turn it down...

Re: Forum Look and Format

I was wondering the same as MV. I just figured you would get around to it when you could and I was just along for the ride.
But per your question: Is it too much white? YES, at least it is for me. I am at the age where my eyes are not focusing like they used to and have gotten bifocals. All this white makes it harder for me to read.
