i was heading to someplace cool with lots of trees and fishing...... i ended up having to turn back midway through northern Nevada. so instead of completely ruining my weekend i decided to stop in at barrel springs. its a super short runway of 4000 feet, yes i said four thousand, 22 miles or so east of black rock city. It is on BLM land with an old homestead off the south end and an even older mine off the north end. super remote, i know its nevada
it was hotter than it looks

i only found a couple rabbit holes on the runway at the far north end but the rest of it is in pretty good shape

old but super strong tie down
this is the old homestead to the south

the rabbit hole is a spring one ridge over. not sure if that is what the door is referencing? and the big ass lizard on the door nob is real!
and to the north was the mine

lots of shafts all over the place

i found four old miner shacks

little oasis off the north end of the strip below the mine

i would have taken more pictures but i was to busy blastin bunnys!
