Anything big different or to watch for on a 220 vs. a 165?

Yeah, they begged me to stay an extra month since they haven't found a replacement yet. Sitting in Paris for two weeks. You know, the French don't make a half bad wine. But the girls still won't talk to us.

The biggest difference is 100LL ONLY.
Is it in a Maule? PZL? As cropduster stated, you will want to run all Franklin's at higher RPM's. Runs smooth at 2400-2600 rpm all day long. Tough engines with better support than you think. Low CHT's and EGT's, but from my experience, the oil temp will run a little warm. An oil cooler is a plus.

Thanks for the input. It is advertised as a new installation, 0 SMOH, in a Stinson that just came on the market. I emailed the seller but no word back yet on other details.

Before you get to serious about it, make sure you know who and how it was overhauled. I'd PM 172heavy (Joe) on this board if you would like specific details concerning the problems with Franklin 220s.
This thread explains some of it in detail:
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=8319&start=0A Stinson with a 220 is a very capable plane and a real joy to fly.
