Here is something you don't see every day. Something free... no strings attached. Backcountry members only. If you need a biennial flight review or instrument currency check ride I will do it for no charge. I have a real job. I teach for fun. It will be a "back country biennial"... not your garden variety flight review. The FAA regs leave the specifics to the discretion of the instructor. So, this will involve: how to survive an engine out in hostile territory; how to deal with mountain flying conditions; how to fly really slow (fast is easy- slow much more challenging) ; how to use a short strip and not kill the family and friends.
Here are the requirements: You come to Arizona (Prescott- nice mountain town at 5040 MSL) with your plane... and there is no charge.
You show up and want to use my plane (C182A) you pay for the gas. You want me to come to your town... you pay the cost to get there. (and give me a place to sleep) Western US only.
I travel to SO CAL pretty often, Grand Junction now and then. KABQ now and then. Tucson and PHX pretty often. No charge in these towns.
Did I miss anything? If this of interest to anyone, let me know. I like to teach.... love to fly. Meeting others who feel the same is pretty cool.
Experience: 38 years- ratings-most. Certified teacher: grade school to univ.
Biennial can be tailwheel, floats, single, multi, hot air balloon, (have a balloon, cost is extra) glass cockpit, LSA, Turbo Prop etc.
By the way, a bit of trivia: you cannot fail a flight review. Period. Either you get signed off... or nothing is ever entered in your logs.
But, if you are blatantly unsafe, unprepared, or have a death wish- don't waste my time or yours.
Cheers, Nick
