Looking for a little input on what my prop might be worth on the used market.

It is a 3-blade 88" McCauley D3A34C401-C. H90DFA-2.

400 hours since new in 2007. A few very minor gravel nicks.

I have an interested party who wants to know what I am selling it for except that I have no idea what it is probably worth. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

What's a new one cost? FWIW I bought a runout 88" C201 2-blade with no logs back in June for a grand, and spent $4K getting it OH'd & converted to oil-filled, for a total of $5K for a fresh seaplane prop. They're about $8K brand new, so about 37% off. Apples to oranges comparing to a 400-hour 3-blade, but maybe that'll help.

I paid $7000 for one 0 time overhauled with really good low time specs. about 5 years ago. w/o spinner and back plate, those cost me another $2000.

New list price on that propeller is 13,100.00. (No spinner/backing plate.) I would think you should be able to get between 6 and 7 thousand. The aeroshell 5 grease it is assembled with tends to break down after a few years, and it exits out the blade shank seals looking like oil. That propeller is easily pulled apart, regreased and resealed within a matter of hours, and with such low time and condition you describe, you essentially have a new propeller. Of course a prop shop will try and get you to overhaul, with the calendar life now expired, but if your not part 135, you're just wasting your money. Nothing quite like an 88" Bigfoot propeller!

Just curious.....What are you replacing it with, an MT? Three-blade?
And on what kind of airplane?

3-blade MT prop is now installed on my 185.
