Catalina pilots must be bored.

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”

One of the few movies with Richard Dreyfuss playing the lead that I liked - must have been the aviation theme that did it for me.

The movie is Always, and was filmed just a little ways from where I live. That particular scene was shot on Koocanusa resivoir. The majority of the filming was done at Libby, MT, with the late Denny Lynch of Billings, MT providing the A26. The "control tower" that was used for the movie is still at the airport in Libby. I can't for the life of me remember the name of the guy that supplied the PBY. The rest of the filming was done around Ephrata, WA.

God put me here to accomplish a certain amount of things...right now I'm so far behind, I'll never die!!

"Always" is a great movie. Classic aviation themed mainstream film.

Spent a lot of time in Libby as a kid. Great area. Gotta get back there one of these days.

I like the Scab lands of eastern WA as well.

The PBY was supplied by SLAFCO, out of Moses Lake WA. Bob Schlafli was a true gentleman who seem to collect unwanted PBY's. Hawkins and Powers supplied the C-119. The "school" at "Flatrock CO" was actually Ephrata WA.
A fun movie which is actually a remake of an old black and white from WWII called "A Guy named Joe" with Ward Bond.
