Garmin edge 500

Just wanted to share...
I started tracking my course with this really affordable device that I bought for my mountain bike. For 299 it has a barometric and temp sensor and takes a really accurate track. Just wanted to share. Oh and the handlebar mount works as a great mount in the plane. I put it on the brace in my front window which i think is a part of a float kit. All birddogs have it.

Can you download your track onto a computer then? The ground speed function would be nice in a cheap/compact GPS unit, we've got instruments for the other two. I've got my Garmin clamped to the V-Brace also. Limits fwd vis some during taxi

You can download your track data with any Garmin GPS that records altitude data using the GPSBabel application. It's free. I've used it for both my Garmin eTrex and my 496. Haven't tried it with anything fancy like a 430.

I just plug my Edge 500 into my computer and use garmin connect.
http://connect.garmin.com/You get an awesome dashboard showing alt, temp, speed, distance, map, and a whole lot more. It's also easy to export to TCX, GPX, or Google Earth file.
Here's my trip to Columbia this weekend.
