I don't know about a day, but it saves enough time that it's more than worth the $50.

Wires are half the battle. The other half is the pitot and static lines. I’m in the middle of my pitot/static/ transponder correlation, and it’s not going well. It’s standard six pack at this point, plus the lines also have to run to the Aerocet gear switch/annunciator.

It has occurred to me that if I add dual G5, they will have to be added to the pitot and static system. Yes, the gyro vacuum hoses will go away, but what a rats nest the pitot static will be, with lots of failure points. How much will it cost to have my biennial testing completed?

Currently equipped with Nyloseal tubing and fittings, should I switch to AN hose barb fittings and Aeroquip 306 hose?

What I find very attractive is what the experimental guys are using. Push in, shark mouth style with O-ring seals. They are used extensively in the trucks in our fleet. They aren’t perfect, but I think they would be for this application. The manifolds and fittings are very compact. https://www.aircraftspruce.ca/catalog/a ... kkey=32542

Steinair in Minnesota sells a ton of those push to connect fittings. One of my classmates here in the A&P school works there and has heard of customers using them in certified aircraft. He mentioned something about the installer having to make the determination of them being a suitable replacement in his explanation. I'll ask again.

The Aerovonics AV-20, that I installed in my 182 is Norsee approved, and comes with the push in fittings, so, they are Norsee approved ? I was planning on buying an assortment of those 3 & 4 way manifold fittings from Stein, they look like an awesome way to clean up the "rats nest" of pitot/static lines behind the instruments. Image

I'm sorry for bringing the sarcasm police into the thread. Your right officers, it doesn't take a day to pin 9 wires. But if you don't have a shop and all the wires laying around or the tooling or the knowledge, it does take time to acquire these things....

The experimental G5 does not come with the installation kit, which includes the 9 pin connector, the G5 mounting plate, and some other little stuff. The certified kit does.

Oh, BTW the installation kit is $50 now, so if it were me, I'd just buy the harness.
