Gene Wilkie, RV3 wing separated Idaho
Debrief, share, and hopefully learn from the mistakes of others.
Another close buddy killed from an RV wing separating:
A really good friend Gene Wilkie died last month in Idaho. He bought this RV3 kit (mostly built) in Hawaii and finished it here in the Honolulu T-Hangars. Shipped it to Idaho. My old hanger is to the right...

Terrible news. I used to taxi by that aircraft when it was parked on the tie down line at PHNL. There will be plenty of questions if the RV3 wing mods were in place. Prayers for the pilot and his family.

I talked to Gene awhile back when he received the kit (wings were assembled, bare aluminum). He said the wing mods were to be installed and was in contact with factory.
