General Aviation News

You get a hat for the picture of the week on AVWeb that BCP pretty much dominates...When you get the cover of the GA News, you dont get a hat but you get to brag about it... 8)

That has to be one of my favorite all time pictures.

Congrats on all the cover shots! Our mission is going mainstream! Maybe the type of flying that we all love will be what ultimately saves GA flying in general.

It would be interesting to know what percentage of people get in to aviation to pursue this recreational niche versus the $100 hamburger (pavement to pavement). Seems like this genre is "trending." While I have loved airplanes my whole life, I am still a noob on what's trendy in this aviation world. Do I have blinders on? Is Backcountry flying gaining momentum?

Re: General Aviation News

Ben Sclair, the owner of GA News is a good dude. He loves what we do, as do most people, which is why he knows putting this stuff on the cover turns heads. 8)

That is exactly why I got into this deal. I was plugging through my PPL and was watching YouTube and found Patrick Romano's stuff and a bunch of other videos of Cubs, Maules and 180s flying Colorado, Utah and Idaho and I was hooked.

I would love to get into the backcountry and off airport stuff, but being a 150 hour noob and only having access to a 172 that I am sure that they would be none to happy for me to take off road. My question for everyone on here...how did ya'll break into the backcountry/off airport flying? How did you make the jump from flight school 172s to backcountry flying?
