Gettin Close.. ready for wiring
Avionics, airplane covers, tires, handheld radios, GPS receivers, wireless Wx uplink...any product related to backcountry aircraft and flying.
Here's the latest on my new instrument panel. All that's left now is all the wiring and some final tweaking..Comms will be an ICOM A-23 for now and also mounted in the center will be Garmin 196.. fun fun.. The revamped Avid Flyer should back up and running soon!

Nope that's 1900'.. The plane is up in Idaho with my Dad. He's the one doing the work to it. I had to move down here to Cali before we got it done. I'm hoping to make a trip back here pretty soon to get it signed back off with the FAA.

I'm using an A-23 and have been very happy with it. With an external antenna, I've been able to talk loud and clear at a distance of 50 miles, when both planes were in the pattern. This is pretty close to theoretical vhf performance.
I've also got a 196 and like it a lot. If I was to be buying now, I would also consider the Lowrance 2000c.
