Glider Towing w/ a 150HP Citabria?

Anyone have any experience that will help me figure out the feasibility of using a 150hp 7GCAA (flapless) to tow a draggy, old Schweizer 2-22E? The 2,500 grass strip is basically sea-level with some 75' obstacles about 1/8 - 1/4 mile off the departure end. Wouldn't be doing any highly repetitive commercial or club towing, just my own family with my glider periodically.

Also, would VGs help at all?

We used a 150hp Citabria to tow gliders at the old Issaquah Soaring Center many years ago and it did just fine. You will not need flaps or VGs.
We towed 2-33s, a Blanik and a Lark mostly.

The soaring center also used a 150hp PA-12, a 150hp Pawnee (now in Palmer of all places) and a 150/150.

Add a climb prop and you should be good to go.

Eric,

Probably going to move the planes to Cougar Mountain. Keeping the Stearman, Cub and glider, as well as a T-Craft F-19 I'm plane sitting has gotten ridiculous at OLM. I'm instructing at a aviation missionary school (Trinity Aviation Academy) that has the 7GCAA. They said if I wanted to put a hook on it I could use it to tow the Schweizer.

You do like to keep busy, don't you? I just googled up Trinity- looks like an ambitious organization. Didn't know there was a local outfit (eatonville) doing that sort of thing, there is /was an outfit up at Arlington (MASA) but I think they only did flight training- no mechanicking.
Good luck with it.
