Glideslope Receiver
Avionics, airplane covers, tires, handheld radios, GPS receivers, wireless Wx uplink...any product related to backcountry aircraft and flying.
Okay, here's the deal. I am right at the end of my IFR training and trying to fine tune everything in preparation for my check ride. I am using my plane and the problem I am having is a very weak glideslope signal. I am using original Cessna ARC R-443B unit (located in fuselage behind back seat) with a "splitter" where the VOR cable "COAX" joins with the GS cable with one coax cable running back and up to top of tail with a "whisker" type antennae. The signal I get is very intermittent. Sometimes it works, sometimes not very good. Better at some airports, worse at others. Not good. I had a tech briefly look at it, he hooked his gismo up to the receiver and said it seemed okay, that it must be something in antennae wire. I replaced the coax from bottom of tail up to the top and cleaned up connections and that seemed to help a little. Then it got worse again.

Worn out receiver? My localizer and VOR work fine. Strong signal. I could just turn it over to a avionics tech but cant stand the thought of some guy pulling everything apart trouble shooting the thing at $75/HR. Anyone got a feeling for what the real problem is besides me having an addiction to flying that I cant afford? Is it possible something in the plane could be throwing off the signal? My ADF signal is very weak too. I'm in too deep now, I have to finish this thing....
