Somewhere around 1977, Swede Erickson bellied a Goose in on the tundra on the Urilia Bay side of Unimak Island. He had one engine fail, and the prop refused to feather. He was on his way back from Nikolski, I believe. Anyway, the plane wouldn't stay airborne with one engine running and the other prop unfeathered. The ground was snow covered, and he landed on the belly.
They flew a replacement engine and crew out there with a Seaairmotive Turbo Beaver on skis from Cold Bay and replaced the engine, then flew the thing off the belly on the tundra.
I looked at the hull when they got it back to CDB and it just was missing some paint.
Tough old airplanes.
