IAA had a work party there last weekend, strip is in good shape, South end is not soggy but nice and green up to midfield. Center of strip on North half is somewhat eroded, but we picked out all the large rocks and you can delay full power and stay slightly to one side and avoid the worst on takeoff. Only the last 100 feet of North end is badly eroded from people using full power from a standing start. It's not THAT short! (2900)

Land North, depart South wind permitting.

Lots of bluebells on the side of the runway! :)

Here is the airport widget for Graham, ID:
[airport]u45[/airport]

Thanks for the PIREP Rocky!
You might also consider posting it to the shortfield.com database so we can have the information in a centralized, easily searchable location.

I have a vision...of a day...when any mention of an airstrip is accompanied by the SF Portable Airport Utility.

Seriously folks, start using it. It's easy, just use BBcode tags to wrap an airport identifier like so:

Code: Select all
[airport]KPDX[/airport]

And the whole utility will magically show up, with all the great data and resources from shortfield.com.

shortfield has it why dont we?

Zane do you magic and incorporate it here ?

Of course it doesn't do us northern boys much good, as continintel
US only.... but it's a good tool for you lower 48'ers.

The Good Lord does not deduct those days from our alloted quota, spent fishing, flying or with our Grandchildren.......

Just testing the deal...this is really sweet. I did not know you could do that.

GlacerCub,
It's got coverage for Alaska, I've just been slow in 'activating' it while in the beta stage. I'm releasing a new version in a few days and it will have airstrip markers for the entire US of A. Of course the tool is only useful if there is data so you northern boys will have the enormous (but fun) task of posting airstrip pics, pireps, video, etc.

All the airstrips in the database (entire US) are currently searchable in the widget (the embedded application you see here), but the markers are only 'turned on' for a few western states. The version coming out in a few days will have all the US airstrip markers turned on. EDIT - I just switched on the AK markers.

To add content:
Right now you have to go to shortfield.com, log-in, find the airstrip you want to add content to, and then you can upload photos, PIREPs, description, and videos. In the future you will be able to post your airstrip content directly through the embedded application (i.e. from the BCP site). There is a 'Help' section on the shortfield.com site that provides more information on contributing airstrip information.

Thanks for checking it out!
