Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”
Figures. You guys wait until I leave and then get back together in some big time STOL contest. I think everyone was just scared of the Savage. Especially the titanium cub guy.

I liked the 65 hp J-3 Cub takeoff the best. He got it off as soon as it would fly at one foot AGL and stayed where it would fly. One foot AGL. That's what I call good technique.
If you go straight up when the mains come off, it means you could have gotten off much earlier using low ground effect.

Graham is one with all airplanes. He gives rides in that 65 HP cub when the rest of us are bitching about the wind.
I cringe when I see my name in the title slot--it's so hard to be anonymous these days...but then I remember that Im beating out the other Greg Swingle (who apparently is a pistachio farmer in california) for web hits and it becomes fun again.
Keep em coming.

I love Greg's videos. I wish we had more Aerocross, but a STOL competition is almost as good!
