When she said give me nine inches and make it hurt...
She didn't mean screw her three times and punch her in the nose!

Re: Gumbs old neighbor Baker wins Iditarod

Gumb is my alter ego I guess...

Ours was a business relationship. She and her husband, Mark Fairbanks, own FBX, and turn a bunch of the air carriers in Kotzebue. She and I butted heads a lot over how my cargo was handled, and how hard her crews worked to have stuff ready for flights. Sitting on the ground waiting for a crew to show up sober and ready to work didn't make me any money.

But, the Bakers are a hard charging family, and John's Dad was one of the pioneer bush pilots in the Arctic. The airport in Kiana is named after him.

Those guys and gals are studs! It is a true endurance test for man and animal. And, no PETA the dogs aren't abused, they are out there doing what is in their DNA, and they love it. The dogs are tested and cared for better than the humans. Sorry for sidetracking the post, but PETA (in this case) needs to shut the hell up.

Those dogs love what they do as much as a bloodhound loves laying under the porch out of the heat.
