Half Way Across the Country

My job transfer came through =D> \:D/! Now I get to fly my Pacer half-way across the country (I can write off the gas because it's a change of residence for employment reasons :D ).

So for all you Canadian folks out there, here is my planned route: Winnipeg (Culross actually) to Yorkton SK to N.Battleford SK on day 1. I might push further west if all goes OK. Then it's Wetaskiwin AB and Hinton/Entrance AB on day 2 with a easy evening in Hinton/Entrance camped in the grass. The timing of this leg may change depending on winds...I might get a bit further west than planned on day 2 so I may push through to McBride if the WX is good. Day 3 will see me to Prince George. From Prince George it's a quick hop over to the little strip where I'll be keeping the plane (at least for now).

I plan to camp "airside" along the way...just to avoid the hassle of cabs and hotels. That way I can get up in the morning and get going without waiting on cabs and the like.

Does anyone have any suggestion for good strips to check out or maybe camp on along the route?

Anyone near the route care to grab a coffee and BS about planes when I come through?

Re: Half Way Across the Country

Shoot, sounds like you staying a bit south of me. I've done close to the same route a few times, Steinbach to yorkton, to north battleford. I stayed north of Edmonton and fueled at josephsburg and avoided any class C. Then from there to my home strip which is close to Grande Prairie. I have flown from victoria to GP, and we opted to cross the mountains north, between tumbler ridge and prince george. Beautiful flight through there, but I've heard that mcbride is nice to, if the weather cooperates. Be sure to note the Grande Cache no longer has fuel, but I'm sure you didn't plan on stopping there anyways.

Pretty cool, JV. We still need to hear about the Arctic trip. :)
