Hang the news media again!

Home made. Kinda like the dude with the helium balloons and the lawn chair. I wish there was a way to sue for poor reporting. I'd be rich. That's a standard category aircraft with two engines I think. My uncle had one. Not my cup of tea.

Condolences of course to the family.

Re: Hang the news media again!

It was a terrible weekend, and gusty/windy around here. It was a terrible tragedy.

Wiggins is a pretty small place. A mother and her daughter were also killed the same weekend suddenly on an ATV.

Thoughts to all the families.

I disagree with your uninformed opinion. The Aircam is a great aircraft. If your uncle had a bad one, it may have been an isolated case of incompetence on the homebuilder's part.

I agree with your criticism of the news media and their ability to focus on less relevant details in air crashes. Adding the "homemade" bit really adds some sensation to this story, implying that he was asking for it with his foolhardy choices in flying machine.

"Plane [rising] unexpectedly midway through the landing" is something that, as we all know, happens frequently to manufactured certified aircraft of venerable repute, and is attributed to outside factors or pilot error.

I know we're all tired of the POS news reporting that goes on, but it is a multi-billion dollar industry.

Just think of how badly the economy would suffer if we only had responsible journalism.

In economic times like these, we should support this job creating juggernaut rather than adapt a job-killing policy of insisting on thorough research, clear communication, or even correct grammar and spelling.

It was *really* blustery all over the area that day. It laid an 11 foot diameter (!) cottonwood over at my place. I did not have the inclination to go for a joy ride in the prevailing conditions. It came in a bit fast, too. Perhaps it went from bad to terrible just as fast in Ft. Morgan, and took him by surprise.

Ok, I've changed my original hasty comment to reflect better taste. I wouldn't necessarily say "uninformed" though either. Maybe "prejudiced" is a better word. I'm fairly sure a twin engine airplane can't be flown as a light sport. The Air Cam also cost like the dickens as I recall, and if I were choosing an airplane I would choose another. My uncle seemed pleased with his.
