Hanging with J.T.

Steve Wright, the fellow who shot that great footage of the Beaver in Idaho earlier this year, just put up another great piece, called "Hanging with J.T." According to the credits, JT is Jason Tucker. Perhaps somebody knows him. Either way, this footage is top notch and a pleasure to watch.

Yep.

Jason flys Ag planes as his main job and is a wizard on getting bent planes out of the outback.

The camera is a HPX-170 and a wing cam (not sure what the wing cam is though). That video sold me on the Panasonic and I was uber excited to buy one... then I googled it.

Amazing footage and cinematography.

I think you could get comparable results with a 7D + quality glass + good housing/mount.

Me thinks this is a bit out of the "consumer grade" category.

This baby is my humble PV-GS300 on steroids and with some serious glass.

Amazing video quality, both technical and cinematography! However...

He takes off with the girl in the plane. But she's never there when he lands!

Re: Hanging with J.T.

Stunning color and footage. Boy does that soundtrack suck.
(sorry Zane)
I really like that uphill landing footage where the strip is hidden from view in the grass.
Looks like it is touching down in the middle of tall grass. Very cool angle.
Song sucks..... oops, did I say that. 720p was worth the wait. Song wasn't.
Have a great weekend y'all. 99 cents, you can probably get it for yourself on itunes..... [-X

Flying is dangerous. If you think otherwise, you are new at this sport. Mind the gravity not the gap.

I'm beginning to think that you just don't like any music...

I've stopped putting music on my personal videos because, having watched a few good flying vids with horrendous country or rap music on them, I can empathize. I mean, if you have audio like this, why cover it up? But that Lumix LX-3 of mine has outstanding audio gain control. My other cameras record the cockpit audio as nasty white noise.

It's not THAT bad for heaven's sake! Big engine small airplane fall foliage; ahhhhhhhh yes.

I recall years ago, a friend of mine, avid backpacker and outdoorsman, told a story about the Idaho back country. He and another tree hugger buddy had scheduled a late summer trip into the backcountry. Apparently they had planned to hike into the headwaters of some stream or another to a spot they had picked out on a map. Anyway, they plan and plan, buy equipment, get their freeze dried menu all set, cut the handles off their toothbrushes, work out on the Nordic Track, carbo pack for a week then take off for this Shangri-La destination.

So they get there, tired, legs and feet aching, and settle in for a couple days of fishing and quiet. Then two river boats come screaming up the creek. The ones with the two stroke outboards with dry exhaust and those long shaft extensions to keep the prop working in shallow water. They got generators, they got music, they got steaks, they got beer, they got it all. They take over Shangri-La. My friend and his buddy high tail it out of there over the hill to another far less idyllic spot and have a miserable time plotting revenge and filling their little old hearts with hate. When he told me the story the main thing I wanted to know about was those boats. Sounded like the ideal way to travel.

Sometimes when I see these videos I think of my Pal. He hasn't changed a bit. I worry about people like him. No sense of perspective.

Nice video

Re: Hanging with J.T.

So I have a serious music and video question... maybe better for another topic...
But, back before iTunes... the music police would show up in our little cowboy town and go around the honky tonks listening for songs playing on stage that were copyrighted. Then the law suits would follow. Got to be a pain in the ass and expensive.
When you all add a song to your video.... then play it in a public forum.... (I even see the link where you can buy it.. so it is real property, so to speak) do the music police even bother anymore? Just wondering. And yes, Zane... I got 3286 songs on my iphone presently. I will be long dead before I play them all.
