Well this year in december is my 30th. My wifes been pushing me trying to find out what I want to do, and I just said a nice little fly in at tyagrah would be good.

Now apparently that idea wasnt good enough, particuarly as she pointed out I dont much like most of the plastic fantastic flyers over here. She then when on to point out that most of my favorite flyers are through this site, so why not pop over the pond and have a flyin over there?

Now its still early days, and Ive got alot to look into before Ill know if this is even viable. Its an expensive year for us sorting out things to do with property ect so it may not be affordable. But on the off chance it works out, I thought I would gather your opinions.

We would most likley be there between november and january for a couple of weeks. We where thinking of doing it somewhere in oregon as thats where a large percentage of you seem to be from. From there we will travel about and see a few other places, would even love to get up to alaska for a few days if doable.

Anyway advice Im looking for is if people think this could be a reality, if the time of year would work, where would be a good spot to have a flyin (doesnt have to be oregon, Imm open to all ideas!), and also ofcourse who else may want to catch up?

I think it's a swell idea. Early summer (northern hemisphere) is the best time for the Pacific Northwest, as all the unirrigated pastures are still green, though all summer is great. We sometimes suffer the smoke of forest fires in later summer. The month of September can be awesome flying weather.

That november- january period is your winter isnt it? Not such a good time you think?

Right. We get some nice mid-winter days that are perfect for flying, but you might as well buy a lottery ticket.

Anytime June- September can be great weather. Mid-September can be great flying weather, still warm but most of the fires are out and the tourists are back in school. Plus Come in September and we can return the favor and take you ocean Salmon fishing or steelhead on the Columbia River in June.

The good thing about Oregon is you can go up to Mt Hood and see snow year around.

Whenever you decide to come up, if you fly into Seattle or Portland Niccole and I have a spare car you could borrow if you don't mind rallying in a 12 year old Corolla.

Well guys my wife and I are defiantly committed to the trip over, but have decided to change the time of year, so we are looking at either October this year as flights are cheap or more likely however march - may next year as it will work in better with my wife's work.

Though I got kind of excited about October as Kev recently released the HSF dates for the end of October! My wife has said, well since the flights are pretty cheap that time of year, you could make the trip over just for that and go back over again in 2016.

so at this stage since I know there is more to it than just fights I'm trying to work out some costs. I was wondering if there is anyone going to HSF that may have a spare seat I could fill, and maybe a bit of camping equipment I could borrow for the trip (or if i sent over some cash, grab me a cheap tent ect. I may look at taking my swag over but I imagine it would be more cost effective to just buy something over there.

anyway long story short Ill be flying into LAX (if I can pull it off) and would love anyone's, opinions and ideas as to how to do it really on the cheap as I want to save as much cash as I can for my proper trip there in 2016. It will be a dedicated HSF trip

You can stay at my place in Rolling Hills! We can cruise Hollywood Blvd on Saturday night, then Van Nuyes Blvd. on Wednesday night in my old Buick.

Or I could reinstall 31's on the Scout and we could fly from Torrance (after you tour Robinson Helicopters) up to Lake Tahoe...your wife could hang out and shop with Mary lou in L.A..

If i do the 2 trips, so the small one for hsf and a bigger one in may, I will be coming in october by myself. But if you where keen to go to hsf this year i would be keen as! That would be ripper
