Most likely I will end up with something European like the Eurofox/Aerotrek or the ICP Savannah. They are well known in my country, and shipping costs for parts are more predictable. But some US planes are not out the running yet. The Kitfox S7 is «just» more of everything and not really that interesting. The Rans and the Highlander have huge baggage compartments and adjustable seats. From what I can read, they are both good enough. No number really jumps out to put one ahead of the other.
Does anyone have flown both and can say anything meaningful about flight characteristics and real world operations? The doors on the Highlander seem a bit drafty? It would be annoying continously faffing around trying to make the cockpit somewhat comfortable in the winter. I have flown other Rans´ and as I know them they are a bit Cubbish or like a flying truck - and I love it! Are they easy to slow down or do they like to float?
If I seriously consider any of them, I will make an effort to go test fly one myself. But I just want to talk planes now that the weather is getting worse, and flying days are few and far between…
